Day Trips from Xcalak – Mayan Cultural Museum
Overview
The Mayan Cultural Museum is located in downtown Chetumal. Its right off the main drag or Avenida Heroes right next to the market. It has two floors and air conditioning, which is a godsend if you have been walking around Chetumal in the heat.
Our Visit
The museum itself is pretty small. Most of the exhibits are on the first floor but there is a mezzanine upstairs that has artifacts and informative panels.
Don’t Miss
The models of the various pyramids is interesting in that you can see the relative sizes of the Nohoch Mul pyramid at Coba to the Grand Pyramid at Chichen Itza for example.
